What to Expect From the Revamped BuildRight Conference

The Home Building Association of Greater Portland hosts the annual BuildRight Conference to encourage knowledge-sharing and networking among high-performance building industry professionals. The 2024 theme is “Comfortable Buildings: Getting Them Right” and will take place April 18–19 in Portland. Past attendees will notice a few big changes to BuildRight this year, including a much larger conference venue, closer alignment with the organizer’s Homes of Tomorrow Today Tour and more dedicated networking opportunities.

A wide variety of session topics offers something for everyone

The Home Building Association of Greater Portland tailors this event to professionals in the Northwest to deliver takeaways that are relevant and practical. Builders and developers doing business in Washington, Idaho, and Montana, in addition to those in Oregon, have much to gain. Homebuilders, remodelers, verifiers, realtors, and equipment technicians alike can benefit from BuildRight sessions that range from introductory to expert levels.

This year’s conference features keynote speeches from two renowned industry leaders. Dr. Allison A. Bailes III, PhD, founder of Energy Vanguard, and Mark LaLiberte, co-founder and president of Construction Instruction, plan to share their building science expertise and discuss the best practices for high-performance building.

Attending BuildRight presentations can earn you Oregon Construction Contracting Board, RESNET®, and NATE continuing education credits, helping you stay up to date and fulfill licensing requirements.

Make valuable connections

More dedicated networking time built into this year’s conference schedule gives attendees extra time to meet other professionals outside their immediate niche, expand their awareness of the broader industry, and learn about new products and services. These conversations can lead to future collaborations and stronger outcomes for your upcoming projects.

Help solve current challenges and prepare yourself for the future

This year’s conference places a big focus on heating, cooling, and ventilation systems and the critical role they play in high-performance homes, and other topics related to energy efficiency will be covered in depth. Some sessions will feature detailed information on recent Washington and Oregon state building energy code updates and the International Energy Conservation Code.

Make the most of your time in Portland by participating in the Home Building Association of Greater Portland’s Homes of Tomorrow Today Tour, which runs April 19–21. This year’s tour will showcase recently built homes throughout the Portland Metro Area that set a high standard for sustainable building practices, above-code energy performance, and comfort. You will meet industry-leading builders who push the envelope when it comes to energy-efficient, affordable homes.
