Performance-Based Energy Code Compliance
Presented by Van Wilfinger

Understanding today’s energy codes already creates a unique new challenge for builders and home energy raters. This presentation will look at common building construction practices in Washington and Oregon and identify advanced framing assemblies and credits that can be utilized for compliance with the energy code. Flexibility is often the key to whole
home energy performance and cost effectiveness. This class will explore options that balance energy losses with measures that have greater efficiency gains to deliver a code compliant, energy efficient home.

What does the Oregon Energy Code Require Now & Where is it Going?
Presented by Greg Lasher

The Oregon energy code (2023 ORSC) has gone through rapid change in the last two code cycles including balanced ventilation and the complex choices of where a builder can locate the HVAC system in a new home. Furthermore, the draft code for 2026 is now available
and offers more challenges for builders. Greg will explain the current choices that builders have to comply with the current code and suggest changes that builders can make to prepare for future code changes. The Energy Trust of Oregon offers builders free consultation and training for code preparations and cash incentives to build above code in the EPS New Homes offering—not a bad way to prepare for the future!
