This 4-hour classroom training will cover essential design principles and best practices that can be integrated into your home building process. Participants will have an opportunity to explore and evaluate different building practices/technologies while learning about locally-available programs and financial incentives that support energy efficient residential new construction.
Attendees will learn about:
- Energy efficiency programs, incentives and tax credits (city, utility and 45L)
- Industry trends, resiliency measures, and energy code trajectory
- Applied building science fundamentals
- Importance of air barriers & approaches
- Upgrades to envelope design & performance
- Ventilation & healthy indoor air
- Applications for advanced mechanical systems (heat pumps & heat pump water heaters)
These trainings will provide valuable info that every builder must know to keep pace with the building code, stay ahead of homebuyer expectations, and increase the energy efficiency, comfort and durability of the homes they’re building.

Dan Wildenhaus
As a Technical Advisor and Industry Liaison for residential, multifamily, and small business programs Dan has completely immersed in the discussion of what is required to create High Performance Buildings and the technologies that operate within them. Dan has over 26 years of experience, 15 of them working directly for a contractor; performing energy audits and Ratings, weatherization and HVAC repairs, consulting, and analysis for private clients in both New Construction and the existing buildings market. Over 10 years ago, Dan transitioned to the consulting side of the business, working with program implementation companies. Dan currently provides Building Science consultation, technical management, market channel development, and training and presentation services for a variety of programs across the country.
