Gain a first-hand, behind-the-walls look at the features and benefits of energy efficiency.

Join BetterBuiltNW for this free guided tour of two high performance homes to find out how they’re built and what it takes to achieve a third-party verified energy efficiency rating.

The tour will take place at ActiveWest Builder's 'Reserve at Hayden' development, beginning at an under-construction LEED for Homes project and then moving to a finished model home that earned U.S. DOE Zero Energy Ready certification and has solar PV.

Hear directly from the home builder, energy rater, and instructor about the typical features that go into these homes and the homeowner benefits that they provide: A more comfortable, durable home with healthier indoor air quality and cost-saving energy efficiency.

Attendees will:

  • See envelope designs and mechanical systems often included in gas- and electric-heated energy-efficient homes
  • Hear tried and true strategies and benefits of high performance building
  • Understand the differences between a code-built and a third-party rated home
  • Learn about utility programs and incentives to support above-code building
  • Translate energy efficiency into benefits that will resonate with different homebuyers

Happy hour food and beverages to follow.

CEs: 1.5 CEs with AIA, 1.5 CEs with ICC (pending approval) & .75 units with BPI (pending approval)

Directions: From Coeur D’Alene you take State Highway 95 North to Hayden ID. There is a traffic light at the intersection of State Hwy 95 and Hayden Ave. Take a right turn (this will have you heading East) on Hayden Ave. In a block or so, you will pass Capone’s Pub and Grill – keep going on E. Hayden Ave. In another .75 miles approximately you will see a very well marked Activewest new development. Turn right into the development and park on the street. The development is called “The Reserve at Hayden Lake." Travel time from Coeur D’Alene to the site is 10-15 minutes.
